We know that in order to
achieve all our objectives we need to raise a substantial sum of
money or have physical/material support provided. Approximately
100,000 is needed to start construction of the Longship, which
should take between six and nine months and we estimate a further
100,000 to support the boat, including a trailer and all the
ancillary equipment through the ships first few years of events.
These figures are flexible depending on material and labour and
other support options.
The attraction to Sponsors is that, at this stage, we can tailor a packages to
suit your specific requirements.
Direct Marketing - give a name to the Longship, logo's or identity marks
including the Sail and shields
Marketing Literature - your name on distributed materials and web sites
Special events - company arranged promotions, festivals, training events,
thank you parties or fun days and Charitable fund raising
Sponsors Options-Marketing
Information about the Longship and the events that will be attended, both here
and abroad, will be published on leaflets and the internet and on our Web Site
and other types of marketing media, banners, stalls and activities.
Your Organisation's Logo could be reproduced on all of our Marketing media.
Whilst the Longship is being built information telling about its progress could
be available at the boat building location and as a monthly e-mail newsletter as
well as on our web site and links to other sites including your own.
We will also distribute your own marketing information at Viking events that we
attend at home and abroad.
Using the Longship
There will be opportunities for a major sponsor to use the ship for their own
special corporate events. The ship is capable of being transported on a trailer
pulled by a reasonably powered four wheel drive or transit type van. This means
that its use is not restricted to water based events. Car parks, show-grounds,
airfields etc could be used and the boats 'pulling power' will be enormous, as
demonstrated by the crowds gathered round the Norwegian's long-ship moored in
the centre of the City of York each year at the Viking Festival.
Charitable Events
We aim to allow the Longship to be used for charitable activities and of course
the Sponsors could, if they choose, be involved in this. Complying with Health
and Safety requirements will be factored in when planning these type of events.
Sponsors Options-Direct Marketing
Your name on the Longship
There will be plenty of opportunities for displaying our sponsors name(s) during
the building phase. We will provide free access to the public with ample parking
and other amenities, whilst they visit living history museum at Murton Park,
including a Viking Education Centre, at all times during construction, including
webcam links.
The proposal to build a Viking Longship has already attracted media attention
and has been featured on both BBC and Independent Television as well as the
local Press and Radio, we have ongoing agreements with them to follow and
publicise the building of the Longship.
Once built there will be plenty of scope for 'advertising' on the long-boat
itself.including naming her!
It will be designed for a rowing crew of 14 plus a stroke-keeper and the shields
that adorn the sides of the ship could be carved with the name or logo of our
sponsors.
The shields will be attached to the ship when it is used for events and
exhibition purposes.
