The Battle of Stamford
Bridge
In 1066, when an invasion led by Harald
Hardrada of Norway was defeated at the Battle of Stamford Bridge,
just 8 miles from York. Three short weeks later, the Battle of
Hastings left England in the hands of the Normans.
We intend to take our replica long boat to Stamford Bridge, a 55
mile journey by river, to help the village celebrate this historic
occasion. |
